In Expo 2020 in Dubai, Thailand Pavilion received an Honorable Mention in Editor’s Choice Awards from Exhibitor Magazine’s World Expo Award. In the architecture field, Thailand Pavilion was rarely mentioned in global architectural publications. The article explores how Thailand’s national identity in arts and the country’s struggling modernization in industry and economy influenced the design of Thailand’s pavilions at international expositions in the 1930s. This raises the question of what has been changed in 2021.
